On 27 October 2021, Mr. Tull Traisorat, Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong, delivered opening remarks at the Opening Ceremony of Sports Studio, a new technology-enhanced sports facilities of Youth College (International), Tsing Yi, under the supervision of Hong Kong’s Vocational Training Council (VTC). The event was attended by Mr. Esmond Lee, Deputy Secretary for Education, Mr. Tony Tai, Chairman of VTC, Mrs. Carrie Yau, Executive Director of VTC, VTC’s council members, training board members, staff, and students. Consul-General’s remarks highlighted Thailand’s “Sports diplomacy,” which helps enhance people-to-people connectivity and forges cordial relations among countries and regions. He is also pleased to learn that “Muaythai” or Thai boxing is increasingly popular in Hong Kong.

Consul-General Traisorat also shared inspiring success stories of 5 famous Thai professional golfers, namely Patty Tawattanakit, Ariya Jutanukarn, Moriya Jutanukarn, Pajaree Anannarukarn, and Atthaya Thitikul, whose perseverance in challenging times and continued determination resulted in their successes. In closing, Consul-General Traisorat reiterated that the Royal Thai Consulate-General stands ready to connect related counterparts of the two sides, to foster stronger people-to-people contact, education, cultural, and sports ties between Thailand and Hong Kong.
