On 27 September 2021, Mr. Tull Traisorat, Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong, delivered opening remarks at the webinar, organised by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce (HKGCC), titled “Thailand’s Digital Transformation and E-commerce Opportunities.” Also speaking at the event are Dr. Chaichana Mitrpant, Executive Director of Thailand’s Electronic Transactions Development Agency, and Dr. Narain Chutijirawong, Director of Clients and Industries, Deloitte Thailand who shared the participants with latest developments, key insights, and opportunities in the e-commerce sector in Thailand. The event was attended by a number of HKGCC’s members who are interested in the e-commerce opportunities in Thailand.

Consul-General highlighted the Royal Thai Government’s policies of “Thailand 4.0” and “Digital Thailand” which aims to build a sustainable and inclusive economic growth by optimising the use of digital technologies in all socio-economic activities, particularly the development of e-commerce. Among the government’s many initiatives, the “Net Pracharat” project has installed affordable high-speed broadband Internet in rural villages throughout Thailand to bridge the “digital divide”. Being the second-largest digital economy in Southeast Asia, Thailand looks forward to welcoming more Hong Kong businesses to seize the opportunities arising from the country’s thriving e-commerce sector.
