Visa Information and Requirements

General Information

The Royal Thai Consulate-General now employs the electronic visa (e-Visa) system to receive and process all applications for a visa to enter the Kingdom of Thailand, except for Elite Visa and ACMECS Single Visa.

A non-Thai national whose current legal residence is in the Hong Kong SAR or the Macao SAR with valid permission of stay (e.g. Hong Kong Identity Card) who wishes to obtain a visa to enter the Kingdom of Thailand must apply and settle application fees through the platform on the Thai E-Visa Official Website (https://www.thaievisa.go.th), where English, Chinese, and Video User Manuals are available. Applicants whose current legal residence is not in the Hong Kong SAR or the Macao SAR, i.e. who are visitors in the Hong Kong SAR or the Macao SAR, cannot apply via the Royal Thai Consulate-General.

Applicants are no longer required to submit his/her passport and original supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Consulate-General. The new process requires an applicant to create an account, fill in the requested details, upload documents, make payment through the system, and wait for the application to be processed. Applicants may be directed to take further actions as communicated by electronic mail.

Visas will be approved, rejected, or cancelled through the system, and applicants will be notified of the result by electronic mail. Applications may be cancelled/rejected due to provision of incorrect or inconsistent information — including cases where an applicant’s personal or passport information is misspelt or misstated, or where an applicant’s travel details are inconsistent with the supporting documents provided. Applicants will be notified of the reason for application rejection, but not for application cancellation. Approved visas could be downloaded and printed out from the system for presentation to airlines and the Thai immigration authorities. Application fees are non-refundable in all cases.

Please refer to the Notes on e-Visa Application below for general guidance. Enquiries may be directed to [email protected] Applicants should study the User Manuals on the Thai E-Visa Official Website prior to making an enquiry.

Visa application may take the maximum of 7 working days for the first response; urgent case will be considered on the basis of medical emergency only. Visa approval will only be issued to applications with complete documents.

All applicants have to make sure their information on the application form is filled correctly (according to the applicant's passport) before submission. Incorrect personal information will result in visa rejection/cancellation
