Remarks
- Marriage registration conducted at the Consulate-General between two spouses who both hold Thai nationality is legally valid and fully binding under Thai law. However, if one of the spouses is a non-Thai national, local authorities will not recognize marriage registrations conducted at the Consulate-General, rendering it legally invalid under local jurisdiction. Therefore, Thai nationals wishing to marry foreign nationals are strongly advised to register their marriage directly with the local authorities.
- In cases where one spouse is a non-Thai national, their passport and Certificate of Marital Status must be legalized by their respective embassy or consulate.
- In the case of a female spouse whose husband has passed away or whose marriage has otherwise terminated, she may only remarry after at least 310 days have elapsed since the legal termination of the former marriage unless she has given birth during that period, is remarrying her former spouse, provides a medical certificate confirming she is not pregnant, or presents a court order authorizing the marriage.
- If a divorced female spouse wishes to change her title and revert to her original maiden name, she must submit an application to amend her personal data at a District Office in Thailand in person. Alternatively, she may authorize a Thai national of legal age to act on her behalf by executing a Power of Attorney (POA) authenticated by a consular officer.
- Photocopies of Thai, Hong Kong, Macao, or other passports must include the biodata page (showing photograph and personal details) as well as any pages indicating official name or surname amendments.
- Photocopies of Thai, Hong Kong, Macao, or other National Identity Cards must include both the front and back of the card.
- House Registration must be the current booklet format, and the photocopy must include every page containing recorded entries.
- Consular staffs reserve the right to request additional supporting documents or evidence as deemed necessary.
