On Saturday and Sunday, 11 – 12 September 2021, the Royal Thai Consulate-General together with the Tourism Authority of Thailand and Team Thailand offices in Hong Kong organised the Thai Festival 2021, under the theme of “Thaication” to promote travels to Phuket and Samui under the Phuket Sandbox and Samui Plus schemes of the Royal Thai Government, at the Olympian City 2, West Kowloon. Aiming also to promote “Thainess” and further enhance economic ties between Thailand and Hong Kong, the event offered a variety of Thai food/fruit products, innovative products under BCG Model from Thai companies like CPF and VET, local Thai products under “One Tumbon One Product” project from Phuket and Samui, Thai Spa products, and Thailand tour and healthcare packages.

Mr. Tull Traisorat, Consul-General of Thailand, Mr. Bernard Chan, Non-official member of Hong Kong’s executive council, and Ms. Naparat Wuttiwat, Director of the Hong Kong office’s Tourism Authority of Thailand, have presided over the opening ceremony. In this regard, Consul-General also delivered a welcoming remarks, highlighting a close and longstanding relations between Thailand and Hong Kong, especially the people-to-people connectivity which resulted from the shared admiration towards each other’s culture, as well as Thailand’s potential and readiness in welcoming Hong Kong tourists in the “Phuket Sandbox” and “Samui Plus Model” schemes.
