On 20 August 2026, Mrs. Punwipa Na Bangchang Wiesener, Acting Consul-General of Thailand in Hong Kong, alongside Ms. On-Anong Srisuwittanon, Consul (Labour), Ms. Nattatira Amponpan, Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (Hong Kong Office), and officers from the Royal Thai Consulate-General and Team Thailand in Hong Kong, attended the opening ceremony of the ASEAN Film Festival 2026 at the Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum, Hong Kong SAR.

Since 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate-General has collaborated with the Consulates-General of ASEAN member countries in Hong Kong and the Hong Kong - ASEAN Foundation in organising the ASEAN Film Festival every year to showcase the excellence of Thai and ASEAN filmmaking and entertainment sector as well as to promote Thai soft power abroad. This event also highlights ASEAN as one of the key centres of the global entertainment industry.

This year, the Royal Thai Consulate-General, in cooperation with GDH 559 Co., Ltd., has selected 3 films to feature as part of the Festival, namely "The Tin Mine," "SuckSeed," and "Beauty and the Beat, Diva La Vie." From August to September 2026, the aforementioned films will be screened at selected theatres in Hong Kong SAR.
